My Grandparents Wedding and Honeymoon 1949

Recently discovered 8mm film footage of my Grandparents on their wedding day and in Acapulco, MX during their honeymoon in 1949.

The feel of the footage is amazing and it seems to go well with Beirut's "My Wife lost in the Wild."

preserving legacy is important.

Postcards from Italy

This video from Beirut is beautiful. The old 8mm in contrast with what appears to be somewhat freshly developed super 8mm is exquisitely grainy which gives this video it's authentic heartfelt feel, pairing perfectly with the song.

Christmas Will

It's that time of year again, sleigh bells ring, snow(if applicable) is glistening, silver bells, yadda yadda yadda." You all get the picture. With light of recent, and not so recent events I've decided to per situation, update this blog with the goings on of myself and other 08'graduates who saw the job market literally dry up upon graduation. Potential job offers, interviews, and other job candidate entertaining all lead to a big great NOTHING for most.

From JobSearchNews.com, "By the time of graduation over half of those that had applied for jobs in 2007 had already secured a position. In 2008 this statistic fell to 26 percent." That is exactly what we are dealing with here. I was lucky enough to secure a commission based salary position that has given me great experience in the industry I want to continue my career path in, but others were not.

Still, 2009 hasn't proven any better, even with the year and half of in agency experience at Libre Design and RAEN Optics I still have yet to see many applications, emails, phone calls, cover letter + resume + recommendation packets responded to.

I would replace any presents under my meager tree with a new job. More on this to come.

Miami-Based Art Collaborative FriendsWithYou

I'm really digging these inflatables out of Miami. Makes me think I need a giant Lobster to help in really promoting Fresh Local Lobster Season at Anthony's Fish Grotto downtown San Diego location. Don't mind the website it's due for major restructuring.

BLOG FACE LIFT

It's been a while once again, but in the midst of applying to Jobs you think you might do well in outside of what you REALLY want to do, you lose track of keeping up on other important things, not this blog, but bills and relationships and things of that nature...so you understand I rarely get time for this but I'll make time for it.

In my Absence I saw some great illustration in a video about "The greatest physical achievement ever accomplished by a man on a psychedelic journey." The guys at FecalFaceDG always have an eye out for the obscure.

In the realm of the Advertising world and in light of my first negative dealing with a client I chased after in pursuit of his business, I felt the feelings behind this string of emails...

In respect to Russell Davies and the slight absence of his practices in my day to day work, I laughed to myself while watching a new DayQuil commercial and thinking of one his old account planner challenges. Watch or observe an Ad and work back to a creative brief.

It's not the most ingenious campaign, but anything that promotes calling in sick to enjoy a day off is good by me.

Until next time.
