Hockey live at the Casbah

This past Monday night, the Casbah turned 21! There to celebrate with a SOLD OUT show was Hockey. Having not purchased tickets I decided to head down to the Casbah anyway and make my way in.

Luckily enough, Hockey's lead singer and I share a mutual friend in chelsea dixon another amazing Portland bred musician and derek shaw of doves and desperados, so when I saw Ben after sound check I struck up a conversation and he did me a solid by helping me in.

Asa Ransom
out of of New York city opened up the evening with an energetic set that was faintly reminiscent of Bloc Party with a lot more soul!

Pardon the iPhone photos, unsuspected entrances to shows calls for unprepared photo set-up.

Deep Sea Diver EP

Jessica Dobson, Beck's current touring guitarist's side project released an EP recently and it is getting many rotations in my head phones lately. Deep Sea Diver is the name of the band, and New Caves is the title of the EP.

Underwater Street Art

Really cool idea as far as perspective is concerned in both these examples.

2010 in Music

The end of the year brings many good things, like the Cold War Kids new EP, "Behave Yourself."

This only makes me smile as we embark on 2010 and all the new music to be released and the old music to be rediscovered!

Yup, 2010, I'm down with it.

Circa Survive New EP

Circa Survive released 2 previously un-released tracks on a limited edition print of 1000 copies of a new EP.

Here is "The Most Dangerous Commercials" one of two off the new EP. These songs were recorded during the "on Letting Go" sessions.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

For me, the Christmas Holiday went off with out a hitch whatsoever. I enjoyed family, friends, an appearance as Santa for the BIG family Christmas party at the old Star of the Sea and much more.

It wasn't about gifts for me this year, nor is it ever, but remarkably enough I received an invoice from my parents of what they've helped me with financially following my graduation in 2008 as my Christmas present! Needless to say I was shocked (at the figure, not the gesture)!! But, I must be doing something right, because Santa made sure a certain underwater housing for a certain digital camera made its way underneath the tree. This thing is bulletproof, check some test footage.

Here's just a sample of the camera rolling while logging.
