In my Absence I saw some great illustration in a video about "The greatest physical achievement ever accomplished by a man on a psychedelic journey." The guys at FecalFaceDG always have an eye out for the obscure.
In the realm of the Advertising world and in light of my first negative dealing with a client I chased after in pursuit of his business, I felt the feelings behind this string of emails...

In respect to Russell Davies and the slight absence of his practices in my day to day work, I laughed to myself while watching a new DayQuil commercial and thinking of one his old account planner challenges. Watch or observe an Ad and work back to a creative brief.
It's not the most ingenious campaign, but anything that promotes calling in sick to enjoy a day off is good by me.
Until next time.

RAEN 2010
Fall09 | Goodbye Cruel Summer. | Vol. 002
RAEN ANNOUNCES LIMITED EDITION COLLAB WITH ALEX KNOST The 2010 sophomore collection for RAEN Optics includes its first co-op frame. With the brand's roots steeped in surfing and music, it was only natural to align with multi-talented longboard rebel and musician (Japanese Motors, tomorrows tulips), Alex Knost. Staying true to RAEN's vintage-inspired foundation, the “Flowers” frame is a throwback to the days at the Factory and the gender-bending Andy Warhol-esque style. This collaboration with Alex was seamless as we share the same philosophy and taste when it comes to product design (strong attention to detail, classic shapes, and overall quality). "Flowers are large enough to fit and successfully block the sun from a man’s eyes, at the same time they lack the dead weight and overly bulky design that inhibits a woman from wearing them. I fancy them as gender neutral, in doing so I hope Flowers install confidence in anyone that aspires to wear a stylistically timeless, and elegantly shaped pair of sunglasses." — Alex Knost The limited edition "Flowers" will be available March 1, 2010. |

Barber Side San Diego
My older brother got married this past weekend(more to come on that), and all the groomsman were treated to an old fashion hot towel straight razor shave at an appointment only joint in North Park.
They've got an exclusive and super mellow atmosphere and all the dudes working there were real cool. Zach is the owner & Marvin and Daryl are his right hand men. Marvin and his brother own the Classics Malt Shop on Midway Dr., so you know the vibe these guys have is no front.
They shaves were super nice and made me skin silky smooth, plus if you're the type of guy who gets ingrowns and razor burn, they've got all sorts of tried and true methods for taking care of that the old fashion way. Needless to say, I'll be making monthly shave appointments from now on.
